Basic Guidelines
Please read before your first submission
Have the exact sneaker in front of you when entering it into the database.
Only use information that you can cite from a trustworthy source. Stick to fact not opinion or hearsay.
ALWAYS double / triple check you are not making a duplicate entry. This only wastes time for yourself and other website users.
Follow our Submission Guide to help you with your first few submissions and always refer to the image guidelines for how to compose your ‘main image’.
Submission Guidelines
This Guide can take 5 minutes to read through but a clear understanding will help you to create accurate submissions in the future.
- If you are adding a new Crep to the database make sure you have it in front of you, this helps to maintain accuracy of information.
- Double / Triple check that your submission has not already been added to the database, duplicate entries only waste time for all users of the website.
- Always use your own photographs when adding images to your submission and follow image guidelines on the best way to take your pictures.
- Always follow the submission guidelines, this will give you all the guidance you require for acceptable entries.
- Only submit information you can prove with pictures, for information that you cannot take photos of such as ‘quantity released’ the source should be cited during the submission.
Your first Crep submission
A step by guide
1: Have the Crep in your hands
When creating a new submission you should always have the Crep in front of you so you can refer to it. This is one of the first GOLDEN RULES for contributing to the database as it helps to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the information on Crepography.
2: Check the Crep doesn’t already exist on the database
No one likes to waste their time so double / triple check your crep isn’t already in the database. First search for make and model then if you are happy that no submission already exists, proceed with the submission.
3: Open the Contribute page and select ‘Create Submission’
There are always many possible pieces of information that could be added to your submission however during your first entry try to stick to the following core fields* for simplicity:
- Photo*
- Brand*
- Model*
- Colourway*
- Nickname (If Applicable)
- Date Released (If Known)
- Quantity Released (If Known)
- Retail Price (GBP)
- Sources*
Photos
Photos are required to prove that you actually have a pair of the Creps you are submitting to the database. These will also help to validate the accuracy of the submission. Plus everyone likes to see images of fresh Creps! Please refer to the image guidelines if you are not sure how to compose your pictures.
4: Identifying the Brand
Start by typing the first few letters of the brand of your Crep into the ‘Brand’ dropdown box. You should then be able to select the brand from the list and continue onto entry for the ‘Model’ field.
If no brand is found in the database using the dropdown box you can continue to enter the brand manually and that will then be saved to the database for future users. Please remember to make sure the first letter of every word is capitalized. If crep is a collaboration then use ‘x’ between manufacturer and collaborator e.g. Nike x Off White or Adidas x Nice Kicks.
5: Identifying the Model
Start by typing the first few letters of the model of your Crep into the ‘Model’ dropdown box. You should then be able to select the model from the list.
If no model is found in the database using the dropdown box you can continue to enter the brand manually and that will then be saved to the database for future users. Please remember to make sure the first letter of every word is capitalized. Double check that the model you are trying to use/add is unique before entry.
6: Other information
The other information ie colourway, nickname, retail price, quantity released is entered into the relevant fields in free form. You can type in and enter any information you like as long as it is accurate and a source can be cited in the ‘Source’ section of the submission.
7: Special Notes
When there is useful / interesting information available about a release that does not belong in any of the dedicated fields (ie Friends and Family only release, interesting backstory behind release, regional only release) this can be entered in to the ‘Special Notes’ field. This information will be shown on the release page when published.
8: Submission Notes
Submission notes are required every time you edit an existing release. The information you enter into this field will only ever be visible in the release history and not on the actual release page. This is where you type the reason for any particular edit you have carried out.
9: Submit
You will only be able to click ‘Submit’ on the submission page when you have added the minimum fields as specified in section 3. When you do submit an acceptable entry you will see a note to say the submission has been saved and is awaiting approval.
10: After you have submitted your release
Your release information will be stored and flagged for confirmation and publishing by a database Moderator. As soon as it is deemed complete and correct, it will go live and you will have any relevant Submission Points added to your user profile. You can view all of your submissions and their current status under the ‘My Submissions’ tab.
